Producers converting oil into biodiesel presently gain from a 20p differential but that is due to end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a variety of little companies in Cornwall presently generate income from utilized cooking oil".

He included: "In order to be able to get this sort of market going it does require simply a bit of lift which can be found in the type of tax inescapable."

Biodiesel is a blend of traditional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
