The Middle East is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually risen the rate of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
